Max Gracia Jr. was killed due to police brutality in Orange County Florida in 2015. There had been a robbery in the neighborhood and police chased after him. Fearing for his life, he ran to the lake and swam for hours. Tiring out he was eventually caught by police who then beat him and he was mauled by the K9 unit for 4 minutes. Paramedics were not allowed to take him to the hospital for 30 minutes. At the hospital he was only treated with band aids but no serious concern was taken for his injuries. He was then taken to the jail still suffering from his wounds. He was left alone in his jail cell and received no medical attention. The inmates began to yell and scream, asking for someone to provide medical assistance to Max. No medical attention was ever provided. Max died as a result of his injuries.
