What We Believe

Dr. Duane McKinney, Pastoral Leadership

Romans 12:15 says, “Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep.” The purpose of the funeral is to bring people of all races, religions and backgrounds together to a place of deep reflection and mourning for the many lives lost at the hands of police and the failure of our justice system. We feel that by doing this it will inspire a call to action that will bring necessary changes and reform to our justice system. When these reforms happen then we as a society will rejoice as we see true equality come to our justice system.

We firmly believe that social justice is a mandate by God for the body of Christ. Jesus was an activist, standing AND dying for the “least of these.” Our hope and prayer is that as we bring people together through unity, prayer and Christ -led/Biblical activism, the almighty God will bring change.

We truly believe that God commanded us in His Word to care about the ills of society when he says, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14) When America turns from the wicked ways of racism through intentional activism on the part of everyone, but especially the church, then he is able to heal our land of a cancer that has ravished the land for hundreds of years.
