Many people fail to realize that our justice system currently does not meet the Biblical standard for justice. For our country to claim that “In God we trust” and yet be so far from what God has commanded us to do with regards to justice, is a complete turning away from what we claim to believe. God is a just God and for our country to claim its Christian roots, but yet refuse to fix a justice system that has allowed for the hunting and murder of so many innocent people, reveals a deep hypocrisy.
Because of the Biblical basis for our efforts, we feel that this issue is bipartisan. Creating a more just justice system is something every American should want, and since our Holy Scriptures speak strongly against injustice (and God curses the unjust), every member of the Body of Christ should actively be pursuing this along with all people who are fighting for this. This is not a far left or far right agenda! This is not a House or Senate agenda. This is not a black or white agenda. This is for every American. This can be done without choosing sides because our justice system is supposed to be impartial and should work for EVERY citizen. Knowing how much our God loves justice, should compel all of us and especially Christians to strive for this.
We do not take sides, because we believe both sides (House and Senate) failed to make the changes sooner. We are grateful for the George Floyd Bill being passed in the House, but why did it take so long? Why did it take us seeing a man killed on screen to finally do something about our unjust justice system? There is nothing beautiful about George Floyd having to die for this. He should be alive! Now in this season (and we are thankful for someone FINALLY deciding to do this), for the 1st time in our country’s history a Bill has started the journey to become an official national law. Let us come together to make this happen and we actually do not care which side is the hero in this. We just want to see change no matter who it comes from! Our prayer is that both sides will come together around this and make the changes necessary in our law enforcement and justice system, so we all live in a country that truly is just for EVERYONE. We all should be striving to make “a more perfect union.”
Below we share verses from scripture that support our passion for this work. May these scriptures be a blessing and enlightening to those who read them.
